Agios Nikolaos - The Lake Volusmani

The lake Volusmani in Agios Nikolaus is one of the two freshwater lakes on the island of Crete. In the year of 1870 it was connected to the sea port through a channel.

According to the legend, the goddess Athene took a bath in that very lake.

In the summer wooden stages are often built on which then dance fiests with Cretan folklore take place.
